Product Information

Cordyceps sinensis is a rare combination of a caterpillar and a fungus found in altitudes above 4,500 m in the Himalayas. In the early 90’s when Chinese long distance runners broke world records, the initial suspicion was performance – enhancing drugs. But it was later discovered that the secret behind their stamina was Cordyceps. Since then this herb is well known as an all round medicine for treating ‘circulatory, respiratory, immune and sexual dysfunction. It is also highly valued as a general health tonic for its ‘ability to improve energy, stamina, appetite, endurance and sleeping problem.’

The Bio Bhutan Cordyceps comes from the Highlands of Bhutan. Collection and trading of the herb was made legal only in 2004. Only communities living in and around the high lands are allowed to collect it and sell it to traders through government organized auctions.

Bio Bhutan sells this product in 3 grades: Grade A, Grade B and Grade C.

Grade A – Worm is approximately 4 cm long or more, worm has a diameter of at least 0.3 cm, not soggy or hollow, golden brown in color, fungus and worm attached.

Grade B – Worm is less than 4 cm in length, slightly darker in color, worm is less than 0.3 cm in diameter, fungus and worm attached

Grade C – All broken pieces comprising only fungus or only worm or broken fungus or broken worm.
